An integrated process has been developed at NASA Ames Research Center to facilitate the design of aerospace vehicles by integrating flight simulation facilities into the design process from the beginning. This process, known as the Rapid Integration Test Environment (RITE), allows the multi-disciplinary vehicle design team to obtain information from simulator facilities in a timely fashion, and to make improvements before the design is frozen. The process has been used in the design of a re-entry vehicle, and the design has been tested in piloted simulation.
